Week 3 workshop: Kendall Rule Set
Original Kendall Rule Set Race to the end / Destination In this workshop we will explore one of the simplest gameplay concepts: the so-called “race to an end”. We won’t make a new game from scratch, though, but try to “reconstruct” a possible rule set to give new life to a few thousand years old game: Senet See attached rules set proposed by historian Kendall as an example. Requirements: - Two sets of 7 pawns, white and black - Have to use Senet original board design - Use any combination of dice you see appropriate for the game - Give meaning to each painted square - Can have both a 1 and 2 player mode - Decide condition for winning - Work in small teams (2 to 4. 3 members is ideal for most workshops) New Kendall Rule Set: - At the beginning of the game, each player's seven pieces take turns on the 14th square.
